Free – $11
Keeper Talk Peregrine Falcons graphic
Stop by the refuge for an informal talk on a specific bird species by Suzanne Hasiak, our raptor care specialist. This is a part of a summer Keeper Talk education series. We will be holding these talks on various Sundays, so keep up with our social media and upcoming emails for more information!
This week, Suzanne will talk about Charlotte, the Peregrine Falcon on display at Fontenelle Forest. A few days ago, staff assisted in banding and giving a health check to the newest generations of falcons to be born on top of Omaha’s oldest skyscraper.
Charlotte was born on top of the Woodmen Tower, where there has been a nest since the 1980s. After being rescued from the ground outside the skyscraper more than once in her youth, it was determined that she had a congenital defect leaving her mostly blind.
Learn all about her story and see her in person during this talk.
This event is free for members or with daily admission.
You may be standing in the sun, so bring sunscreen and hats to stay comfortable and sun-safe.
