Join us at Neale Woods for an easy walk in the twilight then a viewing of the stars and constellations when darkness falls. Bring  binoculars to view deep sky objects as desired. PROGRAM WILL BE CANCELED IF SKY IS MORE THAN 25% CLOUDY. The December hike is near the peak of the Geminids meteor shower.

Since the 1980s, the deer population has exploded, due in part to the lack of larger predators and the abundance of food. To mitigate the issue, we embarked on what has been a decades-long process: conducting research, forming and enacting a plan, and constantly evaluating results. Since the official deer hunt program began in 1996, it has become arguably the most successful conservation program in the history of the forest. TRAILS CLOSED DECEMBER 14-16 Learn more here.

Forest Therapy Walk at Neale Woods

AT NEALE WOODS Come join AFNT guide in training, Julie Mckeone, for a forest therapy walk (also known as Shinrin Yoku and forest bathing). Throughout the walk, invitations will be offered to connect walkers to the forest for the purpose of enhancing health, wellness, and happiness. This is a gentle practice and all are welcomed. Dress for the weather, bring water, and apply insect repellent. Limit 15. Please register here.

Santa comes to Mud Pies

Santa is coming to Mud Pies! Make holiday crafts with your children or grandchildren, see Santa and go for a winter hike! Mud Pies is a relaxed, drop-in-and-play program that encourages interaction between adult and child. Monday-Thursday from 9:30-11:30 am at Fontenelle Forest. For children ages 5 and younger accompanied by an adult. $3 with daily admission for non-members of Fontenelle Forest Fontenelle Forest members can buy a Mud PIes membership for $100 per year.
