Map and Compass Fundamentals

Join presenter Laura Friesell for a hands-on experience learning the fundamentals of topographic map reading and using a compass to navigate.
Topics will include how to read, interpret, & navigate a topographic map, how to identify parts of a compass, & how to use a compass in conjunction with a topographic map.
**Participants please note that you must provide your own compass with a base plate – it will not be provided in this class. Also, this course is being offered in conjunction with a Map and Compass Field Session offered Saturday, October 5th. These classes are separate and must be registered for individually.**
Cost for this program is $15.00 per member/ $20 per non-member (must sign in to receive member discount); program maps, & admission to the forest are included. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. Walk in participants will not be admitted. Ages 14 and up.
