Please Join Us in Honoring Lifelong Educational Ambassadors:

Catalyst Award: Andy Saunders

Chief Naturalist of Fontenelle Forest 1974-1985

Andy was instrumental in creating and promoting a comprehensive roster of natural history programs, among them, Fontenelle Forest’s all-important Teacher Naturalists program. Andy has served as an inspiration for countless citizen scientists over the decades. His drawings were a staple in Forest newsletters and educational manuals during his tenure – and are featured throughout this page.

Citizen Scientist Award: Nature Search Team

Loren and Babs Padelford, Roland Barth, in memoriam – represented by Ingrid Barth, Neal Ratzlaff, Eric Scholar, Phil Swanson and Craig Rotermund

Nature Search is a portal to all plants, animals and fungi photographed within Fontenelle Forest and Neale Woods Nature Reserve. The Nature Search Team is a volunteer-led group of curious amateur naturalists who were inspired by Andy Saunders and Fontenelle Forest to share their love of nature with others.
