Winter Bird Walk

February 12, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

An image of a bird perched on a branch with the words "Winter Bird Walk," an icon of binoculars, and the Fontenelle Forest logo.
Ever wondered what birds brighten up the Forest when there’s snow on the ground? Join us on a chilly January morning to learn about the birds that brave the winters at Fontenelle Forest! Bring your binoculars (or borrow a pair from us) and learn about some of the Forest’s seven species of woodpeckers. Search for splashes of color from cardinals or nuthatches! If you’ve ever been curious about what birds stick around Nebraska in the winter, come learn from one of our expert birding volunteers. Volunteers Bob wells and Clem Klaphake will be leading the January 29 hike. Volunteer Bob Fuchs will be leading the February 12 hike.
This hike will largely stick to the boardwalk and focus on identifying birds that hang out in the Forest in the winter. Binoculars will be available to borrow.
