Sunday Trekking

Join our Naturalist Educators on a guided hike along the beautiful trails of Fontenelle Forest. Each hike will include an educational discussion of the flora and fauna found at Fontenelle Forest.

All hikes will be from 2:00-4:00 PM and last 2 hours, traversing easy to moderate terrain.

Theme: Animal Tracking and Survival Techniques

Grab your long johns and join our Naturalist Educators on a guided winter hike at the Forest (snowshoes will be provided if conditions permit). Learn the basics of animal tracking and how native species survive the cold Nebraska winters.

Theme: Prairie Vs. Forest Flora and Fauna

Pack your hats, slather on some sunscreen, and join our Naturalist Educators on a guided summer hike at Neale Woods. Neale Woods has a unique landscape that allows exploration of both prairie and forest habitats. Compare and contrast the flora and fauna of each area, as well as land management techniques used in each habitat.

Location: The Wetlands

Theme: Fall Foliage and Wetland Changes

Join our Naturalist Educators for a fall hike in the wetlands. Admire the view of the changing leaves of the upland forest, while getting an up-close look at our wetlands habitat. Discussion will include the importance of wetlands and their impact on everything from bird migration to urban flooding.
