Butterfly Hike at Camp Wa-Kon-Da
July 31, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Where can you find Cabbage Whites and Orange Sulphurs? What about Painted Ladies, Eastern Swallowtails, or Fiery Skippers? On the trails of Camp Wa-Kon-Da, of course!
Join our Nebraska Master Naturalists as they hike the trails in search of butterflies, pollinators, and the plants that attract them! Over 50 species of butterflies have been found in Fontenelle Forest and Neale woods, so bring your checklist and a sense of adventure! This hike will take you through an active Oak Savanna/Woodland restoration site, where we’ll discuss why oak savannas are important to butterflies and their target plants.
Hikes will last one and a half hours, traversing easy-to-moderate terrain.
Two hike sessions are available:
- 10:00-11:30 a.m.
- 12:00-1:30 p.m.
Maximum of 12 people per event. Pre-registration is required.
This event is $5 for members and $15 for non-members. Members must sign in to receive discount.
