Backpacking 101

Backpacking 101 is a four week course designed by Laura Friesell to support adult visitors learning basic outdoor recreation skills while experiencing and enjoying the quiet wild of nature at Fontenelle Forest. Instruction will cover Leave No Trace principles, basic first aid for backpacking illnesses and injuries, layering, gear essentials, meal planning, and campsite set up and restoration.
Course schedule:
- April 11th – Classroom session from 6:30-9:00pm
- April 18th – Gear Night **Off-site from 6:30-9:00pm
- April 25th – Classroom session 6:30-9:00pm
- April 26th – Overnight from 5:30pm to April 27th – at 10:00am
Location: Camp Wa-kon-da (except for April 18th)
Cost: $55 per member / $65 per non-member – This includes Fontenelle Forest daily admission for the session dates
Registration for the program is required and limited to 20 students (we must have at least 15 participants registered for the course to proceed. If this minimum is not reached participants will receive a full refund)
Ages: Ages 18 and up
