Backpacking 101

Backpacking 101 is a four week course designed by Laura Friesell to support adult visitors learning basic outdoor recreation skills while experiencing and enjoying the quiet wild of nature at Fontenelle Forest. Instruction will cover Leave No Trace principles, basic first aid for backpacking illnesses and injuries, layering, gear essentials, meal planning, and campsite set up and restoration.

September 26th – Classroom session from 6:30-9:00pm
October 3rd – Classroom session from 6:30-9:00pm
October 10th – Gear Night ** off-site at Backwoods
October 19th Backpacking Overnight from 5:30pm to October 20th at 11:00am
Location: Fontenelle Forest Nature Center
Cost for this program is $55 per member / $65 per non-member (must sign in to receive discount)– This includes Fontenelle Forest daily admission for the session dates.
Ages: Ages 18 and up
Registration for the program is required and limited to 20 students (we must have at least 15 participants registered for the course to proceed. If this minimum is not reached participants will receive a full refund).
