Membership Appreciation Week: July 11 to 17

Member support is vital to the success of Fontenelle Forest. By purchasing a membership to the Forest,
you help us to continue to realize our mission and the important work we do in conservation, education, research and recreation.

To show our appreciation, we are hosting a
Membership Appreciation Week from Sunday, July 11, to Saturday, July 17.

Active Fontenelle Forest members will have access to a variety of drop-in programs and special offers to say thank you for supporting the Forest!

10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.: INFO BOOTH – STAFF Q & A – PRIZE RAFFLE

Do you have questions about your membership? Want to learn more about Fontenelle Forest and everything we offer? Wish you knew more about the various experiences available on our 24 miles of marked trails? Wondering what a keyless fob is and how to purchase one?

Come visit our team on Dennis Plaza. We want to meet you, learn what you love about the Forest, and answer any of your questions. You can also enter the Membership Appreciation Week Prize Raffle. We will contact winners the following week!

1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M.: CRITTER ENCOUNTER IN THE GREAT HALL

Have you ever wanted to see our critters up close? Come learn about our animals from a staff member in the Great Hall. See live animals up close and learn cool facts about the snakes, turtles and other critters that call Fontenelle Forest home.

8:30 P.M. – 10:30 P.M. STARGAZING AT CAMP WA-KON-DA (NOTE LOCATION CHANGE)
(CAPACITY LIMITED TO 50 PARTICIPANTS. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED. MUST BE A MEMBER TO ATTEND)

Bring your blankets and/or chairs and join us at 8:30 p.m. at Camp Wa-Kon-Da. Relax as you take in the beauty of the nighttime stars and learn about constellations from a stargazing expert!

Recommended for ages 6+. Stargazing is weather-dependent. In the case of heavy cloud cover, the stargazing activity will be replaced with a night hike.

Camp Wa-Kon-Da is located at 402 Forest Dr, Bellevue, NE 68005.

10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.: Raptor Expert Q & A in the Raptor Woodland Refuge

A raptor docent will be in the Raptor Woodland Refuge to introduce you to our birds of prey and answer any of your questions. The Raptor Woodland Refuge is a family favorite! People of all ages love to visit the raptors, read their stories and learn about what they can do to help conserve these majestic birds of prey. This is your chance to ask all of the raptor questions you have always wanted to know!

12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Info Booth – Staff Q & A – Prize Raffle

Calling all history buffs! Interested in learning more about our namesake, Logan Fontenelle? Wish you knew more about the Nebraska Phase People, who once inhabited this very land? Now is your chance to ask all of your most intriguing Fontenelle Forest history questions!

Join us in the Baright Gallery and learn about Fontenelle Forest’s amazing history from our long-time volunteer archivist, Catherine Kuper. You can also peruse the current art exhibit “100 Years of Fontenelle Forest through the Eyes of the Artist” and ask any questions you might have about the exhibit.

8:45 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.: Guided Night Hike on the Boardwalk

(Capacity limited to 50 participants. Preregistration required. must be a member to attend)

Have you ever wondered what the Forest is like at night? What nocturnal animals emerge when it gets dark? What sights and sounds can you see? Join us for a naturalist-guided night hike along the Riverview Boardwalk and experience the Forest in a new and exciting way! Recommended for ages 6+.

Go for a morning hike and then enjoy a summer picnic on Dennis Plaza. Willie Dogs will be available for purchase! Willie Dogs are old-world style, all-beef, hand-crafted hot dogs made right here in Omaha. Oh yeah, the buns are made here as well. It doesn’t get more Omaha than that!
