Creightonian: “Fontenelle Forest acts as nature haven amid urban area”

Research shows that spending time in nature is proven to reduce stress. With 2,100 acres of land and over 24 miles of trails, Fontenelle Forest offers a unique natural resource in what is predominantly an urban area, an escape just 10 minutes away from downtown Omaha. Our goal is to provide equitable access for all members of the community to connect with nature and enjoy all the benefits it offers. Through this connection, we hope to inspire current and future generations to care for the natural world.

Recently, Baylee Johnson from the Creightonian, Creighton University’s student newspaper, visited Fontenelle Forest and interviewed Executive Director, Matt Darling, about the Forest, its mission, and what the future holds.
