Sunday Yoga in the Forest

An event every week that begins at 9:00am on Sunday, repeating until March 31, 2019

Join us for an hour-long vinyasa style yoga class, surrounded by nature, designed to de-stress and relax you. In winter, we practice yoga indoors by the fire. This class is accessible for all levels of yogis, from beginner to experienced, and will feature the sounds of the forest as your soundtrack as you move towards complete wellness. Winter Tree Identification Hike

This ever-popular program is back! Even without their leaves, tree species are distinguishable… you just have to know what to look for. Come learn how to identify trees in winter from an expert! Dress for the weather and possible snowy, hilly terrain. This program is best for adults 16 and older. The program will begin inside the Fontenelle Forest Nature Center and then move outside for the hike. This program is free for members or with daily admission.

Family Sundays in the Forest: Writing Hike

Explore the sights and sounds of the forest through the lens of writing! Poet, teacher, and master naturalist Jeff Lacey will lead you on a trek through the forest, with stops for guided writing along the way. Meet live predator and prey animals and learn about the constant tug-of-war between the consumers and the consumed. Students will learn what makes these animals especially suited to their roles in nature, and how you can tell a predator from prey just by looking at the animal. Through skins, bones and other artifacts, as well as live native Nebraska animals, the relationships that keep nature in balance will be discovered. Recommended for students in 3rd to 6th grade.
